I think he misunderstands analytics

Shots at the rim/in the paint are generally favorable for analytics.

Midrange shots generally are not. Do people really miss midrange shots? What creativity is lost by getting rid of midrange shots?

There was plenty of awful basketball in the 80s, 90s and 2000s. Teams are way more versatile today.
