This is true, but if Utah and Oklahoma St had finished 10-2 along with BYU and
1-2 of Iowa St/ASU/Colorado, the Big 12 would surely have gotten 2 teams in.
Even if BYU had finished 11-1 and lost the CCG the Big 12 gets 2 in.
With the SEC having so many 2-3 loss teams, this was the year to make noise and slow the talk of a P2 just a bit. But the opposite happened. 4/5 of the Big 12’s preseason top 25 teams finished below .500, and the one that finished above .500 was 8-4 now unranked K-State
