are the ones that most folks would call "high art."
Schindler's List and the Fablemans are probably the only of his films that really fit that mold. Maybe Saving Private Ryan and Lincoln.
But I wouldn't say any of those (except maybe Schindler's List) hold up artistically against The Godfather 1/2, Apocalypse Now, Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Goodfellas, Casino, The Departed, Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Django Unchained, etc. That said, while that list of films make great art, I don't really want to watch any of them. Once was enough.
On the other hand, while perhaps not as moving or poignant, I'd much rather watch (and rewatch) Raiders, Jaws, Jurassic Park, ET, Last Crusade, etc. And I'd say that the artistry of those films is quite a bit higher than a lot of the cinematic schlock that people pretend is artistic and that makes the most money (looking at you James Cameron). So couple that higher artistry with the fact that Spielberg's films are far more entertaining and rewatchable, and that's why I personally put him above the other more high-brow director types like Scorsese and Coppola.
