You need both when each is called for.
It's like in powerlifting competitions when you're exhausted but still need one more lift to win. You're doing the smelling salts, slapping yourself, yelling, grunting, etc. Getting all the juice you've got. Batty wanted them to go all out for 30 more snaps.

It's like the old Fitness book Body for Life talks about. It's impossible to operate at a 10 maximum effort all of the time. Can only use it once in awhile. Use it when it is absolutely necessary.
