I'm no arborist but every tree is different
Seems like if it impacted a home already that may change the dynamic considerably in what is quoted.

Also, $850 to remove a tree (and the wood) that required a crane seems like a steal. Maybe 1/2 price or better. Your mileage may vary based on location and as stated, it being a less busy time, but to get a tree removed and the wood hauled away for under $1000 when a crane is involved seems like a 50-75% off Groupon rate.
