My cousin married Tom Miller, who was a starting center for BYU in the 1970s. Tom once said that swearing was getting a bit out of hand in practice. LaVell said for everyone to hear, "Dam-mit men, stop your swearing!" Everyone started laughing. Since practice was about over, the assistant coaches pretty much called practice for the day. I don't know if that helped, but after that LaVell hired Roger French.
