Pets are supposed to be enjoyable, get a new one.
My wife hates my "callous" view on pets, but there a lot of great cats out there. Don't keep one that's making life miserable

Don’t even need to lock it, cats don’t have opposable thumbs.

They’re excellent at jumping on those handles that only have to be pushed down

If you pick her up, put her out there, and shut the door, she will go out there.

Sure but the thought of what will happen to her is very upsetting.

Understandable, but seeing no improvement and straining your relationship with hubby should trump prolonging this stress

It's not straining or relationship. His solution is just different than mine. It'd be a different story if it was. He

Get another cat. You'll fall in love with that one too.

You could try pooping in her litter box. See if she'll learn by example.

Agreed. I'd just rather fix it.
