tracked his heritage way back to the Norman conquest of Sicily in the 11th century when Norman adventurers were rampaging all over Europe - so I would guess he writes in a very aristocratic Italian, not a colloquial Sicilian. Wish I could read it in Italian.

Really a fascinating book, first read it at BYU and have since re-read it twice.

It was the only book he wrote and was published posthumously.
