I’m not sure it does. AGI is used to calc Utah tax. Standard or itemized
deductions are applied on your federal return after AGI. Utah calculates the state tax amount on federal AGI and then severely limits the itemized deduction amount from the federal return.
Maybe you know more about this than I do but looking at my federal and state return I got no benefit for my tithing and other charitable giving.
