Alabama will have a loss to 6-6 Vanderbilt.
Ole Miss will have a loss to 5-7 Kentucky. Miami will have lost to 7-5 Georgia Tech. Notre Dame will have a loss to 7-5 NIU.

Turns out lots of teams considered playoff teams have similar losses on their resume.

Why should a 6-6 Kansas team, with wins over not only BYU, but Iowa State and Colorado, that was 5 plays away from being a 1-loss team, be considered a worse loss than those?

If Kansas wins out and is bowl eligible, they would probably beat all of those teams listed above on a neutral field. Hopefully they get matched up with Vanderbilt or Kentucky in a bowl game to prove it on the field.
