In the Kansas game on that 4th and 11 to end the game we got 8 yds when we needed 11. This isn't just an issue with Jake but it does play into questions around his decision making. Did he recognize that Chase Roberts was double teamed and threw it anyway because he was feeling panicky and wanted to get rid of the ball?
We didn't block the play very well and they only rushed 4 guys. Etienne got pushed back and let his man beat him inside. Jake had a lane to escape the pocket to his left but he's not super athletic or elusive so he wouldn't have gained much on the ground. He maybe could've extended the play a little and forced some of the extra guys in pass defense to momentarily break off coverage thinking he would run and maybe that opens up a Derek Lassiter inside the end zone.
