You’re arguing that the AP Poll gives some sort of advantage in the CFB Playoff rankings. I’m saying it doesn’t.
But the logic you are following is that the committee sees “Oregon #1” in the AP Poll, so they say “ah, let’s also put Oregon at #1!”
You’re saying the AP Poll influences the CFB Poll, so they shouldn’t come out early in the season. So if you’re trying to stop the CFB Playoff committee from being biased, why stop at just prohibiting polls from coming out? Why not stop pundits from potentially biasing the committee as well?
Who gets hurt by the AP Poll coming out in Week 6? Nobody gets hurt. Nobody gets hurt by the AP Poll coming out in Week 0. They don’t have any impact on the CFB Rankings. There’s zero harm.
