When we moved to West Des Moines my in-laws reached out to some old friends who lived in The Sandhills of Nebraska, our
caravan stopped and spent the night with these folks. He was a Bishop of the small ward or branch there. One of the ward members learned we were passing through and made some home baked goods for us and told the Bishop to give them to us. It was a small thing but left an impression on all of us. Some of the best people in the world live in the center of the U.S. At that time (middle of summer), The Sandhills were in full corn mode, really pretty area of Nebraska. However, having to traverse Nebraska from West to East, and East to West multiple times in that era of our lives, it was our least favorite, or at least it tied with Wyoming as our least favorite. Nebraska is so long, seemed to never end ha ha.
