That 2001 team was interesting because it literally paired arguably the best offense in the country with one of the very worst defenses. So the #1 offense and maybe the #100 defense.

The 2024 team has maybe a top 25 defense paired with a middling offense, so it is not as great or as bad as the 2001 team.
