Not weird.
But your question does have me thinking that it would be interesting if a team were to script 10 plays to begin a game, have all of the players memorize them in order, and put a group out there that doesn't need to substitute to run the plays for all 10 - then run them as fast as they can. Knowing that if they are anywhere near the 50, they are going for it on 4th down until they've run all 10 plays. No need to ever look to the sideline at all - just go.
