The cushy job was kind of penciled in as a result of going out on top.
Show the Pac12 who is boss. Show the B12 who is boss. Hand the keys off to Scalley to continue the good work. Hang out in the athletics building for a few more years and cash some nice checks.
If he does retire this season as the wheels fall off, I'm not sure how much he or the athletics department really wants him hanging around.
