I have a very different take on it than Shogani. I agree with him that BYU is not fully running as a P4
yet and that our guys playing were not as highly ranked recruits as they will be. I don't think this is disputable.

But, I also believe this team is special.

They have elite (many NFLers in this group) talent from some weird sources: An FCS player in Jack Kelly, a lower rated WR turned LB in Isaiah Glasker, a guy coming back for his 5th year playing in Tyler Batty, perhaps the best corner we have ever had transferring over from Utah State in Jakob Robinson, a highly rated RB flipped the last second from Stanford in LJ Martin, a Jewish QB who was never given much of a chance until BYU in Jake Retzlaff, a highly rated local stud transfer LBer who wasn't recruited by BYU even when he tripped with his friend in Harrison Taggart, an OL who was the worst player on the team last year in Caleb Etienne, a 4 year starter in Connor Pay, a stud WR who was highly recruited in Chase Roberts, a WR who was underrecruited and has worked his way to get here in Darius Lassiter. The list can go on. From a speed standpoint I don't believe any BYU team has had the team speed of this year's unit. We have DBs and WRs that can run and even our LBers can really get after it.

Then from a coaching standpoint we have taken a leap. We have great coaches all over the field. Guys seemingly without egos doing their best to put our guys in great position. With this year's staff I think we have a chance to outcoach the other team week in and week out, I haven't said that in awhile. Just don't ask me about clock management.

Quite frankly, the reason this team is 9-0 is because the team has no glaring weaknesses and can beat you so many different plays. Strong QB play, strong pass defense, strong running game, strong run defense, strong red zone offense, strong red zone defense and a very strong special teams unit. I hesitate a little bit to write strong depth on here, because we haven't had that many injuries. But when we have had injuries we have had guys fill in expertly.

The rivalry game is over, so the nerves over that one are gone for the team. Utah has some real talent and they threw everything at us that they could. BYU still came away victorious.

As the dirty ole Utes used to say (they were wrong, but we will be write) 10 is coming. Go Cougs!
