Been thinking about the Utah game in a final post mortem way. That was the first
time since Lavell Edwards became head coach that a team in this rivalry has made a last second FG where if you make it — you win, miss it — you lose. Of course, there was the DOINK game with Kaneshiro in 1998 that had a shot to be on this list. And there have been multiple "make it you win, miss it you tie" examples (see 1993).

The last time a "make it win, miss it lose" FG was made late in the game was 1971 when Marvin Bateman hit a 32 yarder for Utah with a minute and five seconds left to give the Utes a 17 to 15 win:

This particular late game play is so unique. There are plenty of times when the game is tied or your are down 3 points, but rarely is there a late game situation where the score is a 1- or 2-point difference and it comes down to a place kick in the last ticks of the clock.

It was a special experience to cheer on the team to put Will Ferrin in range to stroll out, align his steps, and send it through.

Here's hoping for a UCF type game against Kansas similar to how they followed up the late game heroics against OSU.
