Lots to do in Costa Rica and I was surprised how much we enjoyed Aruba. Dutch/European flavor, great food and beaches. We've been all over the Caribbean for comparison.

Also, French Canada is really cool, it's like going overseas. Ottawa first, then Montreal, then finish in Quebec City (which is magical). There's some Airbnb's that are reasonably priced with breakfast and extremely quaint, historic, and French cultural feel.
