Move BYU to 8 and they get jumped by a two-loss team. For some reason, it feels like powerful folks are not excited for BYU to be in this thing. People like Klatt, Pate and (usually) Cowherd are generally not excited by acknowledging the non-premier logos. And I think this type of thinking permeates the CFP committee room.
BYU will not get the benefit of the doubt. BYU has no room for error. No loss will be looked upon graciously for BYU as with other teams. In short, they don’t want BYU to take a coveted spot.
Utah was a fun little win. But this team’s destiny is far from achieved. Hope they lock in and continue to do the mental work needed to take what’s in front of them.
There are no elite teams in CFB this year. Not saying BYU can beat them all, but it’s more open this year than ever before.
