She said there was a lot of security presence at the hotel and also a lot of police at the mall. The elevator from the mall directly to the hotel was closed and according to the hotel “for security reasons because the BYU football team is staying here.”

I would guess they are just being careful. It just takes a few dumb fans to ruin it for everyone.
