I did watch his eyes. I'm still not sure.

This was exactly what I did when I watched it live, but you could interpret it as he knew where the ball would the up because he knew he missed badly and so he was looking to see what happened. I'm not ruling out that it was a pass, I just don't think his eyes are conclusive evidence.
