For 2 reasons. 1.) That is what he is familiar with and 2.) Easier with the turnover his model will have year in and year out. BYU will be a more 1-1 type of offensive system. It will not be the offensive flow you see with a coach like Pope. It will be more temperamental and up and down -dictated by who is hot and playing well. My guess is in time he will get better with some fundamental concepts and flow but given his one and done and developmental approach it won’t ever be a work of art with movement and cohesion. BYU has willingly traded a concept of the whole is greater than the sum of the parts for a model where it is hoping one or two of its parts will just be so much bigger than the opponents part. That is going to be inconsistent-especially early in the year as the big parts are getting their feet under them.
