frankly, I'm not sure how to reconcile that with the direction of my church leaders.

I once had an undesirable co-worker say, "Buster, you're a Mormon aren't you?" My response, "Yes, I am." His response then to another co-worker, "See, I don't need to prep or get food storage. I just need to know where to go find it."

And he was dead serious. Former military, gun owner, etc. When folks have that attitude, I'm not sure what the church will expect us law abiding, peaceful, covenant keeping folks to do? Get into neighborhood shoot outs? For the sake of my family, I hope not.
