In NJ years ago, no left turns like that. You went through the light and did a u turn to the right, and waited at the light.

They did not allow left turns on those busy roads, with 2 way traffic.

Too many people trying to make the light and getting into accidents.

Of course that wasn’t off the freeway, would be more like a redwood road where the speed was 45-55 but with lights.
