I don’t think that’s particularly surprising. You’ve got the two biggest brands in baseball, with one on the east coast
and one on the west coast, so you’ve got the whole country covered. You have huge stars on both sides with Judge, Betts, etc. with an international superstar having an all-time season. Then, Game 1 had a legendary ending. You can’t write a better script than that.

On the other hand, the NBA is star driven and there wasn’t really a likeable star on either side. There wasn’t even a star everyone hates to be the villain. Luka was the best player, but he’s kind of boring to watch as a casual fan, and his whining turns people off. Boston is a big brand, but it was kind of an underwhelming season for the NBA overall. The NBA needed Anthony Edwards in the Finals and it didn’t happen.
