Even go back to 2023. Utah defense was suspect anytime they played a team with any semblance of an offense. They had 1 stellar defensive performance against UCLA last year. Everything else was average or downright abysmal.
Their toughest opponent this year so far was ASU. ASU absolutely worked them. Skattebo ran all over. He's a good player but not that good. Wyoming, Texas st, Texas tech and Cincinnati didn't have any problems limiting his production.
On a points per possession basis BYUs defense is ranked several spots higher than Utah this year despite a significantly tougher schedule so far.
