We know about his D, but what can Mag offer to this team as a board collector?
Here's what last year's stats show. He was a starter for a mediocre Rutgers team and averaged 26+ minutes per game, but wasn't healthy the whole season. I'm sad to say, it doesn't look good.

Eighth on his team in TRB per 100 possessions with 8.2. TRB% eighth on the team with 7.3%. Eighth with TRB per 40 min with 5.6. Not great for a forward.

His closest 2023-2024 BYU comparison would be Trevin Knell with numbers of 7.9, 7.6%, and 5.5 respectively. This is a guard that is shorter and less athletic than Mag.

I think we're going to need him to do better. It's possible he wasn't asked to play that role as much for Rutgers as he will for us, and it's also possible that being on a better team will mean he'll have more opportunities. Hard to say.

BTW, in addition to his offensive struggles, the fact that we desperately need rebounding at the SF/PF positions inclines me to suspect this hole in his game reduces his chances of starting. Lack of rebounding effort was something that kept Jax from reaching his full potential last year, for example.
