In my own subjective opinion, the preponderance of actual toxicity in the relationship comes disproportionately from one side of the aisle, and it isn't the one we control.

That we can do our part--as BYU fans and fellow citizens and representatives of Latter-day Saintdom, I agree. It won't necessarily solve the issue. Some folks assume hating on other groups as a key tenet to their identity or worldview. We can deny them obvious fuel to their fires, but we can't keep them from coming up with reasons for keeping on.
