62 yards, 0 TDs and 2 INTs. 3.1 ypa is absolutely atrocious. He made up for the poor performance with his play on the ground, but any smart defense would come into this game with the intent of shutting down the run and forcing the opponent to beat them through the air.
As to what pass plays UCF would want to instill into their game plan? They will want to rely on screens, quick slants, and other short throws that are designed to spread out the defense and keep them from biting hard on the run. The more you can make the linebackers worry about defending the short pass, the more room they will have to run. I would say getting a successful play-action pass game would be helpful for them as well, but I am not convinced their O-Line is good enough to keep pressure off their QB in that situation nor am I convinced their QB has the arm to take deep shots down the field in those situations.
