There are a couple of things I wish doctors understood.

1- I want to know if my pain is harmful or it’s just pain. Aka don’t let me hurt myself long term.

2- I don’t expect to be made younger

3- lifestyle advice is generally unwelcome

4- I don’t know how drugs work I expect you to understand that and help me with my choices.

In this case obviously this dude wants to push his body hard. If steroids work it’s probably because he doesn’t allow healing time. Sounds like he has competing needs/wants. You telling him which wants are more important is like him being a child and needing to be told what to do. Probably would have been better received had you explained what would result with different choices and offered him solutions.


Just my opinion as a 50yo with shoulder pain.
