The Big12 (and ACC) are clearly a tier below the SEC and Big10 in TV ratings and television money.
But Colorado is the exception to that rule. The first half of last season they were easily the most watched team in the country, pulling in the kind of rating numbers that left the blue bloods like Texas and Ohio State and Alabama in the dust.
It's in the Big12's best interest, and thus BYU's best interest, to have Colorado winning and pulling in crazy TV ratings. That's the only realistic way the Big12 is going to close the gap with the Big10 and SEC.
I know it isn't sustainable - if Deion wins big at Colorado he'll eventually take an SEC job - but while he's at Colorado its a no-brainer to hope Colorado wins and generates the best TV ratings in the country.
