So you're saying that if the defensive player jumps, the offensive player can
also jump reactively while the defense is in an offside position (even when the ball remains unsnapped) and that this call will go against the defense?

In the past the way that the offensive team caught the defense offside when there was no contact was that the center was trained to just snap the ball when the defense was offside. Its essentially a free play because the offense can either take the result of the play or take the penalty a redo the play.
