Somehow a lot of talking heads in the local media either don't really understand who Whittingham is (who he's always been), or they were convinced that somehow he and his program had transcended the core personality.
They haven't. They won't. Each collection of players is unique in its own way and some end up being better overall than others. But, at its core, this is still just a hard-nosed, but irreparably over-rotated Whittingham football team.
They're not going to collapse and implode. His teams never do. They could very well still beat us. They have much more often than not. But they also were never going to be more than what they are. It's what his teams have always been.
