Many stories have been shared lately about the increasing reach of BYU sports. I’ve got a quick anecdote from last night.

I have a young friend from Colorado who is studying at SUU. He grew up in the church but has decided not to serve a mission. He and his friend from school drove all the way up from Cedar City for the game last night. They were both rocking new royal blue BYU sweatshirts they had purchased in the stadium store. His friend is from the east coast and came to college in southern Utah for a change of scenery. Not a member of the church, and no prior exposure to BYU, but has become a fan and avid follower of BYU football and basketball, having attended many games the last 2-3 years.

So cool to see people from all regions and backgrounds joining the fold. It’s about sports, but it’s also bigger than that.
