I have nothing against baseball. Used to play it as a kid along with the other mainstream sports, and there was the least amount of tradition for baseball in my community, and I had the least amount of natural talent for it when it came to actually hitting the ball. Fortunately, for me, a dude opened up some batting cages near my house… But that’s another story.

I did become a diehard Braves fan as a kid. Like knew the entire roster, etc. and Dale Murphy was the primary reason. Plus, my dad loved the Braves for the exact same reason, and he’d been a quite a baseball player as a young man..

Murphy left. My attachment to the Braves remained. For years they were the one team I followed.

Now I don’t follow baseball at all. I can’t name 10 major league players. But if you asked me who my favorite team is, the Braves would still pop up.
