I will say that Disney is very good at selling the overall experience. Their
parks are about much more than just riding rides, etc. It's about providing an immersive theme and experience, telling a story through their parks, etc. I know that sounds a bit cheesy, but just look at recent park additions like Star Wars land or Cars Land. The rides in those parks on their own are fairly mundane if you are talking about the mechanics of the rides. But the immersive theming, storytelling, and overall experience surrounding the rides makes them top-notch.

Also, the fact that Disney intentionally designs their rides so that pretty much anybody 8 years old and up can ride them shows that their main focus is on being family-friendly (even as more an more adults w/out kids seem to be making their way into the park).
