First Time Poster - Thoughts on the Double Pass

First-time poster and long-time fan here. I want to thank all of you for the fantastic content over the years. Groups like these consistently remind me that God is good and that Cougar Football will always have stalwart fans.

Now that the pleasantries are out of the way let's get down to the nitty-gritty. A-Rod has got to move away from the double pass (at least for the next few games). Defenses are reading that play immediately out of the gate. Kingston's throw to LJ on Saturday was fun to watch (with a great outcome), but the defender was about a foot away from picking it off. This is not the first time this has happened. The last 4(ish) times we have run that play, DBs and safetys sniffing it out within the first few seconds and nearly blowing up the play.

Long story short, let's use trick plays exclusively in situations that allow us to catch the defense off guard and build momentum when needed. They should not be a substantial part of our call sheet.

I would love to hear opposing views, especially because it's possible the stats don't agree with me. This is based exclusively on my limited football knowledge.
