Watched Ramsey the other day and he was talking ot a guy that was now independently wealthy, 45 and planning on retiring
Ramsey's first question was "what's your plan? cuz fishing and playing golf is just going to kill you."

Their point was that before you retire, you really need to have a plan for all that time. Visiting your kids and grandkids won't fill it up. In fact your kids will resent the intrusion more and more. Remember, at 45 or even 55, you have 30-40 years to use up.

I've learned alot in the 18 months since we retired, left China and started serving this mission. We are at the construction site 6-8 hours a day, sometimes we go home and come back for evening youth groups. If the crew has a holiday, we have a holiday, our "p-day" is basically Saturday, and Sunday's about 50% of the time we are invited to speak somewhere in one of the units among the six stakes in the proposed temple district.

Now, beside that, since we miraculously were called here and had a home here (they didn't know at the time), we spend afternoons and evenings 3-4 days a week, and most Saturdays working on the house. We are doing an addition while we are young enough and have the energy. Some weekends, we might leave early on a Friday, drive down to Orem/Springville, and see the kids.

So, with all that out there, we really have no clue what we would spend all our time on if we weren't serving the mission and fiddling with the house.
