about people who hate soccer but never seem to be able to stay away from it. And I'm not trying to be facetious, but why not just avoid watching? Why not turn off the category? Wouldn't your day be better?

If someone wants to take soccer and "Americanize" it then feel free. Nobody is preventing that from happening. Have fun. Good luck. It would be a completely new sport. Those things happen all the time. Sometimes they catch on, sometimes not.
