It’s not like they are all sitting in a room, rank the teams in a blank ballot, and average the rankings.

They put teams in small batches. They debate teams in groups. They rank the teams in comparison to those groups. They re-do the process several times. They have data and metrics they are using.

Pretending they go through that entire process and think “ah actually as I compare BYU to Notre Dame for the 4th time in this small batch I have to remember that the AP poll has Notre Dame higher” is completely nonsensical.

People WANT them to be biased by the AP Poll cause they like complaining.
