If there is a two-team tie for second place, the league will use the following criteria, in order:
Head-to-head result among the tied teams.
Record against all common conference opponents.
Record against the next highest placed conference opponent in the standings and proceeding down based on the order of finish.
Combined conference winning percentage of conference’s opponents (basically a team’s conference strength of schedule).
Overall wins in a 12-game season (only one win against an FCS or lower division team will be counted).
Highest ranking by SportsSource Analytics using its team “Rating Score” metric following the end of the regular season.
Coin toss.
If there is a tie involving three or more teams, the Big 12 will use the winning percentage in games among the tied teams as a tiebreaker and then proceed through the same criteria as the two-team tiebreaker for all the tied teams involved. If the multiple-team tie is reduced to two teams, the two-team tiebreakers will be applied.
