Yeah, he was plenty open to be able to "scoop and score". BUT, that's alot easier to see on replay than in real time.
Remember the Michigan vs USC game, where the big Michigan DL guy got the strip, and then tried to run, and the USC Running back stripped it back and USC regained possession, and a new set of down, and scored a TD.
YEAH, if you can SEE that you are clear, get the scoop and score, but if you are not 100% sure and maybe not a common ball handler, fall on it and secure the fumble!
