Almost every time the "age" and "maturity" arguments are brought up re: BYU, it's an excuse or a complaint, and please don't pretend you don't know this. So the safe money is on the idea that Gundy was making a not-too-subtle reference to BYU's returned missionaries.

Of course, maybe Gundy only meant "emotionally solid" and "well put-together", with "their heads in the right place". But I think it's unreasonable to blame BYU fans for interpreting those words as a reference to the RM population being "older" and "more mature", an accusation with which BYU has been consistently beaten over the head with through many decades.

Even if you're right, it's ridiculous of you to try to insinuate that there is something untoward or hard to understand about such an opinion.
