On Saturday I watched many plays where our DL had a hard time getting to the QB. Sometimes we just couldn't get a rush, and other times we were able to collapse the pocket and get Fifita on the run, but then our DL couldn't stay with him and he scrambled for 15 yards and an easy first down.
In the KSU game we went to a LB spy to slow down Avery Johnson, which meant that we were able to keep him from getting free. I didn't see us do the same thing with Fifita — when we didn't blitz we just kept our LBs back in coverage and tried to pressure Fifita with our front — I didn't see a spy.
Ultimately it worked, but is Fifita just not the threat with his legs that Johnson is? I haven't looked at their rushing stats — is Fifita a decent scrambler in terms of extending the play but not as much of a straight up run threat?
