I expect much better things in terms of tournament success by this team. A team full of very talented freshman with some very solid returning experienced players is basically the perfect recipe for success in March, but not necessarily in December and January. I think we'll be slightly worse than last year the first half of conference play and a little better the second half of conference play. Then I think we'll be much better in the B12 and NCAA tournaments.
That's how many of Calipari's teams were that made deep runs in the NCAA tournament over the years.
I am very open to the idea that we have enough experience and talent to be competitive earlier in the season and make a run at the regular season B12 title, but I'm honestly completely content for our team to be underestimated at this point. It might even play in our favor to have lower expectations going into the season.
