Breeze Airways - DC (Dulles) to Provo last week. Love it!

I flew the inaugural Breeze flight from Washington-Dulles to Provo last week (with a return on Saturday). Man, I hope they can keep that flight.

It takes off from the B gates at Washington-Dulles, just a few gates from where the Delta SLC flight departs. The A220 is becoming my favorite narrowbody aircraft, so quiet, big windows, and feels much more like an A320 series jet than a regional jet (granted, I guess at this point, it kinda is).  Plus the 2x3 seating is nice. All four of the airlines I have flown it on were great.

Upon arrival in Provo, we got the water cannon salute, which was cool.

The biggest thing for me is that flying to Dulles through Provo is soooo much better than SLC. I left my parents house at 7:00am, and was sitting at the gate before 7:15am. Given how long security can take at SLC (even with Precheck), it wouldn't surprise me that one could leave their house in SLC later for the Breeze flight out of PVU, than a similarly timed Delta flight at SLC.

The only drawback is that it is only a 3x/week flight, where Delta to IAD is daily. However, the Breeze flight leaves PVU at 8:00am both ways, so I get back home to DC early afternoon, whereas the Delta flight gets me home well after midnight. And the Delta flight is often late because it's the last flight of the day, so getting home after 2:00am isn't unheard of.

The difference in cabin service was notable. Seems like about half of Delta's FAs hate their job and the passengers, the Breeze crews were nice. Although with Delta you do get a free cup of Coke and a PTV that often doesn't work.

One thing I don't know about is whether Breeze has really advertised this route. It seems like they should be advertising it in SLC as a viable alternative to the Delta flight, and they should really be pushing it at BYU. On my way back I sat by a couple of students who were headed home for conference weekend and a quick visit, because it was cheap and easy. One was from Springfield and the other from southern Pennsylvania.

Overall, a welcome addition and a real gamechanger - especially for those DMV-ers in Fairfax, Loudoun, southeast Maryland and southern Pennsylvania.
