The pendulum swings one way, then the other. I think BYU's athletic department is overall getting better with added resources and exposure because of our conference affiliation. That doesn't mean we will always be undefeated like we are right now in football. It doesn't mean that we will always be in contention for the best basketball recruits in the nation like we are right now.

But I think it DOES mean that BYU in 2024 is better off than BYU of 2014, and I think BYU of 2034 will likely be better than BYU of 2024.
