Pessimistic:
NAU didn't even run 2 of their top 5 runners. Notre Dame had two unattached runners who finished just ahead of Rohatinsky. If they were scoring runners Notre Dame finishes second.
Optimistic:
8 of BYU's 9 runners moved up at least 1 spot in the final 2k with Nelah Roberts passing 24 runners.
While finishing 9th of 9 for BYU is a bit disappointing in terms of where she finished in the first race of the season, Nelah Roberts did run a 9 second PR for a XC 5K.
Based on recent training video clips on Instagram the one runner who lost places in the final 2k, Riley Chamberlain, has missed some training. Normally I would expect her to finish between Jenna and Carmen Alder. If she had finished just one place ahead of Carmen BYU would have had 4 runners in the top 11 and won.
BYU had the top 7th, 8th and 9th place runner. They are deep. If other schools lose any of their top 7 they may take a hit.
