I really went from a high deductible plan ($4k for a family) to a very high deductible plan ($12k for a family). It has worked out great. We are overall healthy, but in that time we have had 2 kids tonsils taken out, and one baby. Despite this, we still saved money. The differences in price plans were so big that I could reach a big portion of the contribution limit for my hsa just by switching. It was a no brainer.
Now, to be fair, I am a family med physician and take care a lot of stuff out of the office. so that does help.
